Halal Awareness Training (HAT), or Latihan Kesedaran Halal, is a mandatory Halal course for companies seeking JAKIM Malaysian Halal certification or renewing their existing Halal certification every three years. This training must be obtained from a registered Halal training provider.
What is Halal Awareness Training (HAT)?
Halal Awareness Training (HAT) is not just a regulatory checkbox; it’s the foundational pillar of your organization’s halal assurance system. As mandated in the Manual Procedure for Malaysia Halal Certification (Domestic) 2020, every employee involved in the halal chain must undergo this training at least once every three years.
This course goes beyond basic definitions. It provides a comprehensive understanding of the Halal and Toyyiban concept—ensuring products are not only permissible but also pure, safe, and wholesome. In an era where halal integrity directly impacts consumer trust and market access, this training equips your team to be active guardians of your certification, mitigating risks of non-compliance and contamination that could jeopardize your business.
Al Barakah Training Solution Sdn Bhd is a registered training provider and a strategic partner of the Malaysia International Halal Academy (MIHA) to conduct Halal Awareness Training and Latihan Kesedaran Halal.
There are two types of mandatory Halal training for JAKIM Halal certificate holders:
Halal Awareness Training / Latihan Kesedaran Halal
This course must be attended by all employees, with priority given to those in production, purchasing, and warehouse operations, every three years.Halal Competency Training / Latihan Kompetensi Halal
This course must be attended by all Internal Halal Committee (IHC) members every three years (minimum). Further details are explained on the Halal Competency Training page.
Why is Halal Awareness Training Critical for Your Organization?
Mandatory Compliance: Failure to provide certified Halal Awareness Training can result in non-compliance during JAKIM audits, risking suspension or withdrawal of your precious halal certification.
Protect Brand Reputation: A single halal integrity breach can cause irreversible reputational damage and loss of consumer confidence.
Empower Your Workforce: Turns every employee from a passive worker into an informed, responsible stakeholder in maintaining halal standards.
Standardize Knowledge: Ensures consistent understanding and application of halal principles across all departments, from procurement to production to service.
This awareness is the essential first layer of your organization’s Halal Compliance Structure. For team members responsible for developing and maintaining the official documentation, our advanced Halal Assurance System (HAS) Training provides the complete framework. For those tasked with checking compliance, Halal Internal Audit Training is the logical next step.
Course Objectives
By the end of this Halal Awareness Training, your organization will:
Fulfill the specific training requirement outlined by JAKIM in the Halal Certification Manual Procedure.
Establish a clear understanding of the key principles of Halal and Haram as per MS1500:2019.
Instill a deep sense of responsibility in every participant for producing and handling halal products.
Provide the practical framework for implementing and monitoring Good Halal Practices (GHP) within your premises.
This Halal Awareness Training / Kursus Kesedaran Halal introduces participants to the basic concepts of Halal & Toyyib and best practices for maintaining Halal integrity during food processing within an organization.
This training is essential for employees of JAKIM Halal-certified companies to comply with the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) set by JAKIM’s Halal Division.
By understanding Halal certification, employees will recognize the importance of implementing good Halal practices when handling food products.

With reference to the latest Manual Procedure for Malaysian Halal Certification (MPPHM 2020), Clause 17(12)(c) under the Training section:
“Halal Awareness Training must cover topics related to the concept of Halal and Malaysian Halal Certification procedures, and must be conducted by organizations or individuals registered under JAKIM’s Halal Professional Board (HPB).”
The certificate issued is also recognized by the Malaysia International Halal Academy (MIHA), meaning our certification is accepted not only in Malaysia but also internationally.
